About BJSM Live - Para and Adaptive Sports Medicine

Athletes participating in para and adaptive sport have unique medical circumstances that may impact injury and illness prevention and management. However, sport and exercise medicine (SEM) healthcare professionals often do not receive adequate training to care for athletes with disabilities, and the lack of expertise for para and adaptive athletes remains a major healthy disparity in SEM.

The objective of this BJSM Live webinar is to provide an educational program to upskill healthcare professionals around the world to care for athletes in para and adaptive sport at all levels. The webinar is led by global leaders in Para and Adaptive Sports Medicine caring for athletes at the 2024 Paralympics and in their communities.

This webinar is FREE to all thanks to the generous support of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM). We are also proud to collaborate with the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC), and American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AAPM&R) to produce a landmark event.

AMSSM

American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM) is a multi-disciplinary organization of sports medicine physicians dedicated to education, research, advocacy and the care of athletes of all ages. AMSSM’s vision is to be a worldwide leader in sports medicine. The majority of AMSSM members are primary care physicians with fellowship training and added qualification in sports medicine who then combine their practice of sports medicine with their primary specialty. AMSSM includes members who specialize solely in non-surgical sports medicine and serve as team physicians at the youth, high school, collegiate and professional levels, as well as with Olympic and Paralympic teams. By nature of their training and experience, sports medicine physicians are ideally suited to provide comprehensive medical care for athletes, sports teams or active individuals who are simply looking to maintain a healthy lifestyle. www.amssm.org
